For a once-in-a-lifetime experience, a tandem skydive is unlikely to be forgotten! Many do sponsored tandem jumps for charity or simply just for the thrill of falling at speeds in the order of 120-180 mph.
Courses are normally scheduled Friday to Sunday Feb/Mar/Nov and Wednesday to Sunday (plus bank holidays) April to October. See the booking Calendar for currently scheduled availability.

Please note prices are “upto” heights as occasionally cloud, pressure or temperature may prevent the full height from being achieved. In such an event the charge will be rounded to the nearest price height; i.e. a 12,000ft jump would rounded down to the price for 10,000ft and a refund of £50 may be claimed, however no refund would be offered for a 12,600ft + jump.
On the day
Registration, Documentation and Training can take in the order of 45 minutes to 1 hour.
On completion of training each instructor can, given good weather, take participants on Tandem Skydives at a rate of 1 participant per each remaining hour of the day. According to demand we may schedule in 1 instructor mid week, and 2 to 5 on weekends.
Participants, their friends & family should not rule out the possibility that adverse conditions may delay or postpone their jumps so requiring additional attendance at the Centre to jump - poor weather on the first visit is no guarantee of good weather on subsequent visits.
(Statistics indicate that 50% of participants jump on their 1st booked date, 25% on their 2nd, 12½% on their 3rd and 12½% have to book 4 or more dates in order to complete their jumps. That is the nature of skydiving and it should be noted that no refunds are offered to those unwilling to reschedule to alternative dates)
A queuing system operates at the Centre normally with those with the lower ticket reference being manifested first. Where possible we do try and group participants with friends and family, but this can't always be guaranteed.
The rules within which we operate, as set out by the BPA in the Operations Manual, are quite specific and do not permit student parachutists, either "Solo Student" or "Tandem Student" Parachutists, to jump with cameras.
Filming of Skydives is undertaken by Licensed Skydivers using specifically approved Camera Mounts & Cameras, normally either mounted on a Licensed Skydiver’s Helmet, Chest, Arm, Hand or exceptionally another part of the body – this may be either by a Solo Skydiver (referred to as "Outside Cam") or in the case of some Tandem Instructors on their arm or hand (referred to as "Handcam"). Whilst we can undertake to have a Skydive (as opposed to a Static Line jump) filmed we cannot at the time of booking undertake as to whether this will be done by "Outside Cam" or "Hand Cam" – each has benefits over the other – and it depends how the rota of jumps and personnel falls on the day, which in turn is dependent upon several other factors.
Whilst it is best to book in advance, it may be possible to arrange a video of a Tandem Skydive as late as the day of your jump for a total cost of £99 which will get you an edited movie and some still digital e-photos. Access to your footage is provided through a link that will be emailed to you after your jump and which can then be shared with friends & family. For an additional £5 the footage can be downloaded onto a USB which SSG will provide and which can be mailed out, or should time & demand allow it may be possible to wait and collect the USB on the day of the jump.
Given that Tandem Parachutists exit in order of 300 feet apart resulting in both vertical & horizontal separation practicalities dictate that one camera can only film one Tandem Parachutist in free fall, although other jumpers might be filmed within the aircraft and after landing.
We sub-contract the production of Videos out to SSG (Video Productions)
Payment for the edited video is made in two parts, firstly £44 to Skydive Academy Ltd in advance (by card or cash payment only) which effectively books the video, and and after training has been completed separately £55 to SSG (Video Productions), or if footage on a USB is preferred £60. SSG like ourselves accept both card & cash payments. Should the video be of an unacceptable standard, as judged by ourselves & SSG, you would not have to pay the balance of the £55 fee to SSG (Video Productions) and we would refund the £44 you paid us in advance of the jump to secure the provision of the video service, however there would be no refund of the Fee paid for the Tandem Skydive, or provision by us, Skydive Academy Ltd, of a free 2nd Tandem Skydive experience should the video fail to come out".
All participants need to satisfy the criteria laid down in BPA Form 115-A, a fully completed version of which needs to be presented on checking in on the day of the course. Those unable to satisfy the requirements of BPA Form 115-A may still undertake a Tandem Skydive if their doctor suitably endorses BPA Form 115-B.
- Need to be 16 years older and above, 16 & 17 year olds need parental/guardian consent on BPA Form 106
- Whilst we may be able to accept upto 16st 7lbs/105kg after a face to face personal assessment we require prior consultation with regard to any prospective participant weighing 14st/88kg or more.
- Once trained participants would normally be expected to demonstrate an arched body position.
- Participants would normally be expected to be able to maintain a legs raised position for at least a count of 5 seconds (this can be practised by sitting on a stool).
Risk & How Safe
Information with regard to How Safe has been compiled and published by the British Parachute Association and can be accessed by CLICKING HERE.
- Those with with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 27.5 or over, &/or aged 40 years or older, have an increased chance of injury and would normally be restricted or advised to make a Tandem Jump as their first jump, particularly those weighing over 14st/88kg.
- Those aged 55 and older are restricted to making their first jump as a Tandem.
- Even when undertaking a Tandem participants with a BMI of 27.5 or over, &/or weighing 14st/88kg or over, &/or aged 40 yrs & older have a higher chance of sustaining an injury - this might range from a bruising of the thighs on canopy opening, lower limb injuries on landing such as sprains or twists, or fractures, or worse.
- To put this into perspective the chance of serious injury when undertaking a tandem i.e. a fracture is assessed by the BPA to be in the order of 1 in 3,400 and of any injury i.e. bruising, twist, sprain, cut or graze 1 in 1,100.
- These rates increase for those falling into any of the categories (1) BMI of 27.5 or over, (2) weighing 14st/88kg or over, (3) aged 40 yrs & older however they would increase further still for those falling into two, or indeed all, of those categories.
Essentially the older and heavier the participant the higher the likelihood of injury.
Rescheduling and Cancelation
There is no charge to reschedule 10 days or more in advance of the booked date but within 10 days of the booked date a £35 reschedule fee is charged.
Once a course is booked no refund can be claimed although prior to the commencement of the course a place may be transferred to another without charge. Once a booked course has commenced places are no longer transferable. Those not attending courses will loose the deposit element and face an additional reschedule fee of £35 to book a new date.
On completion of their initial training participants will be issued with a jump ticket by their Instructor which they should then hand into the Manifest Office (normally on the same day for Tandems or very often the next day for Solo SLs). In the event that jumps are postponed due to adverse conditions jumpers should retrieve their tickets from the Manifest Office in order to be able to present them on their next visit. Should jumpers thereafter be unable to present their ticket on a future date (be that through loss, damage or forgetfulness) a 10 pound charge will be levied for a replacement ticket.
We operate a ticket in (jumper ready to jump) ticket out (jumper not ready to jump) system. Jumpers leaving tickets in at the Manifest Office when they have withdrawn from jumping that day leads to confusion and delays, accordingly any jumper who leaves a ticket in when they have not jumped that day will face a 10 pound charge to retrieve their ticket on a subsequent date.
Should participants exceed a period of 3 months since last attending to jump, or should participants demonstrate a major lack of competence at any stage after completing their initial training, they will need to retake the full training syllabus again, normally by booking onto and attending another scheduled course with suitable availability. Should the latter be within 3 months of participants last attending the Centre but also within 12 months of their initial training no charge will be raised for such retraining. If over 3 months since participants last attended a fee of £50 will be charged for a full retrain. Any participants exceeding a period of 12 months since their initial training will need to attend another full course at the full course fee in place at that time.
